Representatives from C-SPAN will talk to students about the political network at 9 a.m. Friday in the Student Union’s Gran Salon.
After the presentation, students will have the opportunity to tour the C-SPAN Civics Bus, a 45-foot mobile multimedia demonstration center that brings the world of public affairs to communities nationwide. While aboard the bus, students can discuss government, media and access C-SPAN’s Video Library, a comprehensive searchable archive featuring every C-SPAN program since 1987.
The bus will be parked next to the Student Union from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Visitors to the Civics Bus can also learn more about these free C-SPAN resources:
• Health Care Hub, a site featuring resources on the ongoing health care debate
• C-SPAN Classroom, an educational service for social studies teachers
• Congressional Chronicle, a tool for monitoring and tracking congressional bills and members.
This year marks the bus’ 17th year on the road. The C-SPAN Civics Bus and crew travel the country, producing programs and promoting civic engagement through education.
C-SPAN, which is celebrating 30 years as America’s political network of record, was created by America’s cable companies as a public service in 1979.
